Science Week: workshop with Marc Boada

Within the framework of the 2014 Science Week, our Secondary students have been working on an electrifying subject: energy. Under the wings of none other than Marc Boada, our students learnt many interesting things about fuels, energy transformation, and different experiments with fire…A great scientific experience with a very special guest!

Marc Boada, writer, scientist, lecturer and sculptor. His professional career has been focused on the popularization of science. He has helped create museums and science exhibitions (Barcelona, Terrassa, Sabadell, Valencia, Granada, Teruel, Alicante, Cartagena, Cuenca, Coimbra, Madrid…). He is a regular collaborator with several media such as TV3, 8TV, Radio LaXarxa and Catalunya Radio among many others. He wrote the books:  “Max Picard y el maldito péndulol de Foucault” (Ed LaGalera), “Els 3 infinits. Un llibre de ciències per gent de lletres” (Ed. Momentum)  and he is the co-author of the Technology books for Secondary education in Castellnou Ediciones. He is the editor of the “Taller y Laboratorio” section from the “Investigación y Ciencia” magazine. He worked as a teacher of Scientific Foundations and Science in the Massana School in Barcelona for more than 10 years. He is also the director of the Associació Pèndulum for the Popularization of Scientific Knowledge.

Third prize in Industrial Dessign by the Confederation of Chambers of Commerce, 1990.

Qualified for the final of the “Ciencia en Acción 2010” contest with the experiment kits “Descubre la Ciencia con el Quèquicom” in the modality of “Physics demonstrations”.

First prize in the XXIII Edition of the Boehringer Ingelheim for Journalism in Medicine, in the audiovisual category with “Un presidente contra el Alzheimer” presented with the QuèQuiCom programme’s crew, 2009.

Prize “Entorno natural Joan Martín” for his “Jardín de las percepciones” in the Vallparadís Park, awarded by the Terrassa City Hall, competition organized by the Visual Disability Association of Catalonia, 2009.

Co-winner of the honourable mention in the contest “Ciencia en Acción 2007” in the modality of Scientific Research Projects with the “El Jardín de las Percepciones: una apuesta por la divulgación científica para la ciudadanía”. 2007
