National Day of the People’s Republic of China

The National Day of the People’s Republic of China commemorates the creation of the People’s Republic which was founded on October 1st 1949 with a ceremony at Tianmen Square and afterwards declared national day with the Resolution on the National Day of the People’s Republic of China on December 2nd 1949.

The National Day is celebrated throughout mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau with a myriad of government-organized festivities, including fireworks and concerts. You can also see public places such as Tianmen Square decorated with spectacular flower ornaments and portraits of revered leaders such as Mao Zedong.
