Europa International School organized the ISSA Boys Basketball Tournament that took place in the school’s Sports Hall and the PAVIII Rambla del Celler, in Sant Cugat, on March 6th-8th.
Throughout this 3-day tournament, students from 9 different international schools, who have been hosted by school families, have fought with all their migth and strength to achieve victory.
The semifinals were spectacular, the audience felt as though watching an ACB or NBA game! It was just so intense and exciting!
Four teams stood out from the rest: Bilkent Laboratory & International School (Turkey), International School of Aberdeen (Scotland), ACS Egham International School (United Kingdom) and Europa International School (Barcelona).
No one knew who the winner would be, after heart-stopping semifinals it was decided that Europa International School and the ACS Egham International School would be the two teams that would be face to face in the final…and what a breathtaking final! We can’t remember the last time we saw such a thrilling game!
Just look at the scores: 43 Europa International School and 44 ACS Egham International School. We lost in the very last second after ACS scored a three-point shot! Unbelievable! After the initial disappointment, our students, who gave their 100%, realized they had almost won and that 2nd place was also a victory!
Chin up guys, we are very proud of you!
We would like to congratulate the team, Eric Forne (coach) and Genís Tena (assistant) for such a good job. Of course we need to also thank all the school families who hosted the athletes of the different schools participating. Without their help it would have been impossible to organize such an important sports event. On behalf of the School we are deeply grateful.
Next November 2014 we will be organizing the ISSA Boys Football Tournament, and we would like to count on your help once again. See you then!
