Conference about positive discipline: tools to raise happy children
What is positive discipline? How can we raise our children lovingly and firmly at the same time, at home and in school? We will talk about all this in the conference (in English) “Tools to Raise Happy and Resilient Children” by Joy Marchese, founder of Positive Discipline UK, on Thursday 30th January 2020 at 19h in the auditorium of European International School of Barcelona.
With over 20 years of experience, Joy Marchese will give us the basic guidelines to apply positive discipline at home and in the classroom. Some of the topics we will discuss are: how to be firm but affectionate without falling into authoritarianism, how to awake the feeling of belonging in our children and students, the importance of giving a voice to the children’s feelings to avoid punishment, and how to teach values such as respect, cooperation, and empathy, among others.
Afterward, she will answer questions from the audience.
Joy Marchese is the co-author of the book Positive Discipline for Today’s Busy (& Overwhelmed) Parent, together with Jane Nelsen, one of the first psychologists to create a manual for parents about positive discipline in 1980. Her trajectory helping families and revolutionizing the educational field is known world-wide.
